Tell us about your mental health journey

I have been in therapy for decades and had never found a therapist who seemed to really "get me". First Session allowed me to get a preview of the different therapists and their modalities and pick someone I felt was more on my page.

What did you learn in therapy and how did it help you?

Therapy is great to constantly learn more about myself and others and gain new skills for daily interactions.

What is one thing you wish more people knew about therapy?

I wish people knew how empowering it can be.

I just kept thinking "what's the point"

I just kept thinking "what's the point" and my therapist helped me dig deeper into that thought and helped me see that I get to decide what The Point actually is. She motivated me to start working out again and it's been huge for my mental health.

Why am I not ever genuinely happy?

Having been in therapy for several years as a young adult, I knew that returning in my late 20s would be a different experience. I wanted to dig deeper and work with a therapist to answer reoccurring questions in my life.

Therapy is something that has been long overdue for me.

Therapy is something that has been long overdue for me. I think a way I would self-cope with anything happening to me is try to listen and help others so it would temporarily distract myself from my own issues.
