Liz Spaargaren
Liz Spaargaren is a Registered Therapeutic Counsellor who takes a strength-based, nonjudgmental approach to help clients reconnect with themselves and create lasting change. She believes each person is the expert in their own life, and therapy is a supportive space to explore what’s working, what’s not, and what feels true. Liz’s own journey of letting go of the need to hide behind masks has shaped her belief in the power of showing up authentically. Clients can expect a grounded, supportive space where they feel accepted, understood, and encouraged to grow at their own pace. She has a special interest in supporting those who feel stuck or disconnected from their true selves. Liz invites you to come as you are—and begin the work of healing in a space where you can truly be seen.
- Feeling Seen & Accepted - I know what it’s like to wear so many masks that you lose sight of who you truly are. I spent years trying to be who others expected me to be, but I also know the freedom that comes with letting those masks go. You deserve a space where you don’t have to perform—where you can simply be.
- Trauma & Healing - I understand the weight of trauma and the courage it takes to heal. I’ve carried experiences that felt too big to face alone, and I know healing isn’t about “moving on”—it’s about learning to hold your story with compassion. I don’t ask my clients to do anything I haven’t been willing to do myself. I’ll walk alongside you at your own pace.
- Starting Over - Leaving an unhealthy relationship, becoming a single parent, or returning to school later in life—I’ve lived those transitions. I know how overwhelming change can feel, even when it’s for the best. You don’t have to figure it all out at once, and you don’t have to do it alone.
- Neurodivergence - As someone with ADHD and dyslexia, I understand how exhausting it can be to navigate a world that doesn’t always make space for different kinds of brains. I also know the relief that comes with realizing you don’t need to be “fixed”—just supported in ways that work for you.
- Honouring Your Uniqueness - No two people are the same—so no two therapy sessions should be either. Some days might look like sitting by the fire and talking things through. Other days might involve art, movement, time in nature, or even a quiet moment hugging a horse (or kitten). Together, we’ll shape your healing journey in a way that feels authentic to you.
