Alexandra Walcott
Alexandra Walcott is both an occupational therapist and clinical counsellor who brings a collaborative, compassionate approach to therapy, helping clients feel safe as they explore whether the fit feels right. At the heart of her practice is the belief that clients are in the driver’s seat and therapy should move at a pace that feels empowering and grounded. Alexandra was drawn to this work by a deep respect for the courage it takes to be vulnerable, and outside of sessions, she finds perspective in the honest, messy process of real-life connection. In therapy, clients can expect a supportive, no-pressure space where their voice is prioritized and their needs guide the work. She is especially passionate about working with children and families navigating complex care systems, drawing from her experience across medical and school settings. If you're feeling hesitant but curious, Alexandra welcomes you to reach out.
- Diverse Work Environments: Working across various states in the U.S. as a pediatric occupational therapist expanded my understanding of different communities and the unique needs of individuals in diverse environments.
- Inclusive and Creative Solutions: My passion for finding inclusive and creative solutions for all little learners has driven me to explore approaches that support diverse needs and abilities.
- The Gaps in Mental Health Services: Throughout my career, I encountered numerous individuals, couples, and families who lacked access to disability-affirming mental health services, which deepened my awareness of the need for better resources.
- The Need for Specialized Care: My experiences reinforced the importance of providing mental health services that are both creative and knowledgeable about the unique circumstances of those I serve.
- The Desire to Be the Change: Motivated by the need for more effective and accessible services, I returned to graduate school to become the change I wanted to see in the field of therapy.
